Naked cakes are made with a frosting technique that allows you to see the layers of the cake 'semi' through. That is why it is called Semi naked cake or naked cake in English, because the cake is actually partially naked. This gives the cake a robust, rustic look that many love. What is a semi naked cake?

A naked cake consists of layers of cakes that are not (or almost not) decorated on the sides. Instead, the cakes are stacked on top of each other with cream or filling between each layer. Sometimes that's all and sometimes the cakes get a very thin layer of cream on the outside to keep everything in, that's called a crumb coat. Our Semi naked cake range does contain this crumb layer. It's a common step for icing cakes, although most cakes still get cream on top. Without the typical outer layer of cream, the inside of the cake is visible, giving you a taste of all the delicious flavors inside. This ensures the robust appearance of the semi naked cake.
