Semi-Naked Cakes

A cake with a rustic look. These are naked cakes, a real trend when it comes to decorating cakes. Naked cakes are made with a frosting technique that allows you to 'semi' see the layers of the cake. Hence the name Semi-naked cake or, in English, naked cake, because the cake is actually partially naked. This gives the cake a robust, rustic look that many love. What is a semi-naked cake?

A naked cake consists of layers of cake that are not (or barely) decorated on the sides. Instead, the cakes are stacked on top of each other with cream or filling between each layer. Sometimes that's all, and sometimes the cakes get a very thin layer of cream on the outside to keep everything in, which is called a crumb coat. In our Semi-naked cake assortment, this crumb coat is indeed present. It's a common step for glazing cakes, although most cakes still get cream on top. Without the typical outer layer of cream, the inside of the cake is visible, giving you a preview of all the delicious flavors within. This gives the semi-naked cake that robust appearance.

After choosing one of our delicious designs, it's time to customize. For most semi-naked cakes, you can choose from a vanilla, chocolate, or red velvet cake. Are you gifting the semi-naked cake? Then have a personalized message placed on it for a small extra charge. This will be engraved on a golden plaque placed on top of the cake. You can also opt for a separate message via a card.
